Here's a little something for the lovers on Valentines Day:
I am not aggressively anti-Valentines Day, but I do think it's a silly holiday. It puts all this pressure on each other to get a gift or celebrate in some way, and someone is always disappointed. Relax people...it's not that serious. Anyways here is a fun little recipe for chocolate sauce. Pour it over ice cream, pour it over hot fudge brownies, pour it over each other ;-) Enjoy!
Ingredients:
12 oz. dark chocolate
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions:
1) Put the chocolate into a heatproof bowl.
2) Heat up all of the other ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring often. Bring to a boil and remove immediately from the heat and pour over the chocolate.
3) Let this stand for 2 minutes, then stir until all of the chocolate is melted and everything is combined.
4) Consume
-This recipe was adapted from the one found on the Joy Of Baking website. I added salt and a little more vanilla extract. Also, I don't like to add the alcohol. Feel free to change up the flavors by adding spices, alcohol, or other flavors. I personally like to add a pinch of cinnamon along with a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- This makes a great gift and can be stored in a jar in the fridge until you are ready to use it.
